History

Lantern Electric Company was founded in 1994. Owner and president Steve Anderson comes from a long line of electricians dating back to the early 1900's when his great grandfather got a job as a linesman for a Latrobe, PA utility company. His job was to bring power from the street pole to the second-floor hallway of the residence. There he would install a switch, a light, a receptacle and most importantly, the first electric meter!

In the 50s his grandfather started a home remodeling electrical business in Evanston IL. From there the electrical trade really took off. Steve's father and uncle decided to branch out and started Anderson Brothers Electric Company. The brothers continued to serve the Chicago area for many years and brought Steve on board in the early 80s at age 22.

After working several years with his father's business Steve applied for and passed the Chicago electrical license exam. Later in 1994, Steve founded Lantern Electric Company. A successful company built on family tradition.
